Cellular Senescence Assay
To monitor cellular senescence following drug treatment.
Features of the assay
- Quantitative cellular senescence detection by fluorescence microscopy.
Cells were treated to induce cellular senescence. Nuclei were highlighted in blue and senescence-associated beta-galactosidase (SA-beta-gal) activity in green. Left image: untreated cells. Center image: treated cells. The mean green fluorescence intensity in each cell, proportional to SA-beta-gal activity, was quantified by digital imaging. 300 cells were quantified for each condition and Mann-Whitney U test was performed to assess statistical differences.
