Detailed description
In standard 2D monolayer critical factors of tumors, such as cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, do not form. In contrast, 3D culture systems offer the advantage of a more tissue-like complexity and heterogeneity, cellular polarity and interactions. Volume and dead cells inside the spheroids, highlighted in green in the image on the right, are monitored over time through live-imaging.

Obinu and colleagues, supported by Kitos Biotech as contract service, evaluated the anticancer activity of their Poly (ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate) nanoparticles on our 3D tumor spheroids models of hepatocellular carcinoma and kidney adenocarcinoma cells. Their work was published on Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces.
