Nanoparticle Drug Delivery Assay in Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

To determine efficacy of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (HPBMC).

Features of the assay
  • Efficacy of drug delivery is be measured multiple times over a short (time-lapse) or a long period of time by live-cell imaging.
  • Single cell analysis for determination of HPBMC subpopulations with distinct permeability to delivery.
  • Side effects on HPBMC viability and morphology are measured.

Detailed description
Nanoparticulate pharmaceutical drug delivery systems are widely used in pharmaceutical research and in clinical settings to enhance the effectiveness of diagnostic agents and drugs, including anticancer, antimicrobial and antiviral drugs [1]. We established a single-cell assay to evaluate kinetics of efficacy of nanoparticle-based delivery systems in primary human peripheral blood mononuclear cells taking advantage of live-cell imaging and time-lapse technology.
